booklamp foldstep background

Step by step instructions showing how to make your own upcycled book LED lampshade by recycling an old book.

Books can't usually be recycled along with other paper recycling because of the glue that's used to bind them. Instead, there are many possibilities for re-using, donating or reselling books. This should be your first option as book are much more valuble as books!!

We use books that have pages missing or the info is outdated and useless.

Many people have old books in their homes. They are usually books that you either bought a long time ago and that got outdated or that you needed at some point for college for example and became useless after that. Those books do nothing but take space which you could use for something else. What to do with these books? Well, you could just throw them out or you could use them for a fun and creative projects. We have lots of ideas for you to choose from.

There are so many books that are simply thrown away as they have very little resale value, so follow our easy step by step instructions and see how easy it is to create your own upcycled lampshade by recycling your old books!

In this Step by step project we will show you how to Upcycle an old book and turn it into a beautifully unique and very
effective lampshade. You could add in your own energy efficient, low heat light source, or follow our steps and build your own energy efficient LED light circuit.

Please note that a jigsaw is used to create this project and you must either know someone who can operate one for you or
be able to operate one yourself. Necessary caution advised! We will also be working with a soldering iron to wire the LEDs together.

After making the notebooks last week, I thought it would be a nice follow up to show you how to make paper. This helps to take care of all the scrap bits of paper that were left over from our notebook project. This is another fun Upcycle project to do, however as you will need to use a few tools in to be able to make the frame this project will require adult assistance.

It does seem like a lot of work but once you get the tools sorted out then making paper regularly would be easy as pie.
