What you will need:

    • 1 X Milk Container (washed and clean)
    • Various ribbons
    • Double sided tape
    • Craft knife
    • Scissor
    • Ruler
    • Stapler
    • Working surface

Step 1:

Take your plastic milk container, remove label and use your craft knife and scissors to cut the top half of the container complete off. At the top of the container, cut along the other side of the moulding line, to retain a long length of plastic. (This will become your handle.)

TIP: Use the plastic moulding lines on the container as a guide and cut neatly along them.

Step 2:

You will notice that the milk container has a plastic moulding imprint in the shape of a circle. Use this as a guide to cut out two circles from either side if the container, with your craft knife.

Hold onto these circles, you will need them!

Step 3:

Take the long length of plastic (from the top of the container in Step 1), cut to create a long strip.

Attach either end of this strip to the container using your stapler. Fold the strip over, through the circle and then staple the end to the other side as illustrated.

Step 4:

Apply a small strip of double sided tape to the milk container bottom, stretching over the handle. Stick a length of wide ribbon down onto the tape and run this around the edge of the container, securing it again with double sided tape when you meet the end.

Repeat this at the base of the container bottom.

Step 5:

In order to attach a length of ribbon to the middle of the container – place a small section of double sided tape to the inside of the container, close to the circle hole. Stick the end of your ribbon onto this and feed the ribbon through the hole and double back around the container. Enter through the circle and pull back, attaching with another strip of double sided tape to the inside of the container. Repeat for the other side too.

Step 6:

To decorate the upcycled handle:

Take a relatively wide length of ribbon and close one end, feed it into the container, through the hole and back over the lip, around the handle into the container and out through the hole again. Do so, carefully hiding the one end into the folds. With the longer length, wrap it around the handle, all the way up and across the handle. When you reach the other side,  wrap it from the inside, out through the hole, up and over the lip on either side of the handle and carefully finish off by tucking the end of the ribbon into the folds.

Step 7:

Remember your cut out circles from Step 2? Punch a hole in each of them and use a small piece of ribbon to attach them, with a nice bow, to the handle of the Upcycle milk container basket. These will be your upcycled name tags.

Step 8:

You can write the name of the recipient that the basket is for, on one circle, and a short message on the other.

Step 9:

Finish your Upcycle milk container project off with some tissue paper of the same colour as your ribbon before placing the Easter Egg Goodies/Presents into the basket!
