Step 1: Flatten the Toilet Rolls

Start by flattening each toilet roll. This will make it easier to cut them into petal shapes.

Step 2: Mark and Cut the Petals

Use a ruler to mark equal sections along the length of the flattened roll. Each section will form one petal. A standard flower can have around 5 to 6 petals, so aim for strips of roughly the same width. Once marked, cut the roll along the lines, creating multiple loops.

Step 3: Shape the Petals

Take each loop and gently pinch the ends to create a petal shape. You can adjust the shape until they look like flower petals.

Step 4: Assemble the Flower

Start arranging the petals in a circular pattern to form your flower. Once you’re happy with the layout, glue the petals together at the pinched ends. Hold them in place until the glue dries, or use paper clips or small clamps to secure them while they set.

Step 5: Paint the Flower

Once the glue has dried and the flower is fully assembled, it’s time to add color. Use paint to bring your flowers to life. You can choose bright, vibrant colors for a bold look, or soft pastels for a more subtle effect. Make sure to paint both sides for a polished finish.

Step 6: Create More Layers (Optional)

If you want a fuller flower, repeat the process with more toilet rolls and layer the petals on top of one another. Simply glue the additional layers onto your base flower to create a more textured, dimensional effect.

Step 7: Add Finishing Touches

You can add small details like a painted bead or a button in the center of the flower for added flair. These details give your upcycled flowers a more professional, decorative touch.
