Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Take Apart the Keyboard

Before starting your keyring, help the planet by recycling that old keyboard. Using a screwdriver and pliers, carefully take it apart. Look for keys that have flat backs, as these are easier to work with. Don’t worry too much about damaging the keyboard—you’re dismantling it to recycle!

Step 2: Clean the Keys

Once you’ve gathered your keys, give them a thorough cleaning. Dish soap and a scrub brush work great to remove any grime, and the printed letters will stay intact.

With a craft knife, carefully make two holes at the top and two at the bottom of each key. Space the holes evenly for better durability, and ensure the holes are big enough for the waxed cord to pass through.
